tenses is a series of animations that stretches the common use of digital typography by manipulating the content of short poetic texts to create its dynamic deformations. the characters of the alphabet found in each original text take form using a library of fonts and are spread like blobs of paint on canvas using Mr. softie, a custom built software created at the OBX laboratory that facilitates complex textual transformations. characters, words and passages are applied and transformed into a composition that is inspired by the content of their respective text, bridging the cap between semantics and aesthetics. the techniques used to generate the compositions are inspired from concrete poetry with its use of visual arrangement and typography to elevate and reinforce semantics, and the visual eccentricity of their aesthetics take from the bold styles of urban graffiti.
